Sheri Twambly, Owner
Hugs First | Heirlooms Forever
Sheri is a dedicated wife and mother of three based in Northern Virginia, where she creates custom baby quilts designed to celebrate life’s sweetest beginnings. Her work blends thoughtful design with lasting craftsmanship, creating pieces that families treasure from the very first snuggle.
Her love of sewing began early, inspired by her stepmother, who gifted her first serger; a moment that sparked both confidence and creativity. That early encouragement laid the foundation for a lifelong passion for working with fabric.
Sheri’s quilting journey deepened in 2007, following the unexpected loss of her mother to lung cancer. Her mother was not a smoker, making the loss even more profound. She was left with her mother’s fabric stash, which became more than material; it became a connection, a comfort, and a way to carry forward her mother’s legacy.
Today, that legacy lives on in every quilt she creates. While Sheri can craft memory quilts such as T-shirt quilts, her heart is in designing baby quilts; pieces that represent new beginnings, growing families, and the moments that deserve to be held onto forever.
With a professional background in event planning, Sheri brings a unique blend of organization, attention to detail, and artistic vision to her work. Each quilt is thoughtfully designed to reflect the personality, style, and story of the family it is made for.
Community + Connection
Sheri is proud to serve as Vice President of the Waterford Quilters Guild, where she helps foster a welcoming and supportive community and creates opportunities for quilters to learn and connect. Learn more at https://waterfordquiltersguild.org.
In addition to her quilting work, she is a skilled pattern technical editor, known for her precision and ability to bring clarity and structure to complex designs.
Sheri is also a passionate advocate for her daughters’ health, navigating complex medical challenges with resilience and determination. This experience has deepened her compassion and continues to shape the care and intention she brings to her work.
Giving Back
Giving back is an important part of Sheri’s journey. She regularly donates handmade quilts to PTA initiatives and breast cancer awareness fundraisers, honoring her mother’s memory and supporting others through life’s most meaningful moments.
When she’s not sewing, you can find her traveling, swimming, or enjoying a quiet moment with her Kindle. Whether she is creating, organizing, or supporting others, Sheri approaches life with heart, intention, and a deep appreciation for connection.
