T-Shirt Preparation Instructions for Your Custom Quilt

To ensure the best quality for your custom T-shirt quilt, please follow these preparation steps before sending your shirts:

1. Washing Instructions:

  • Wash all T-shirts in cold or warm water using a mild detergent.
  • Do not use fabric softener—this can interfere with the stabilization process and affect how the fabric handles in quilting.

2. Drying Instructions:

  • Dry shirts on the highest heat setting to allow for any potential shrinkage before quilting begins.
  • Do not use dryer sheets, as they can leave a residue that affects the fabric’s texture.

3. Shirt Selection & Cutting Guidelines:

  • Do not cut your T-shirts before sending them. We will cut them to the appropriate size to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Choose T-shirts with graphics or designs that hold sentimental value.
  • If your T-shirt has a double-sided design, indicate which side you prefer to be featured.
  • If you want to include special items such as jerseys, sweatshirts, or other fabric types, please contact us in advance.
  • Sort your shirts into three piles and label accordingly:
    1. Must have in quilt
    2. Nice to have in quilt
    3. Only use if needed

4. Packing & Shipping Tips:

  • Neatly fold and stack your T-shirts before packing.
  • Use a secure, waterproof bag or box to prevent damage during shipping.
  • Include a note with any special requests, preferred layout, or additional details about your quilt design.

By following these steps, you’ll help ensure your quilt is made with the best possible results. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out!
